What a beautiful winter’s day today, with conditions looking almost perfect, until we started shooting. That sneaky breeze came in from the right at the top of the range, and really never made it down to the bottom of the range.
We had 29 shooters today including a friendly face from out west, Julie, you are always welcome to visit and shoot with us.
We shot 600 yards again this week, as the 700 yard targets are not operating properly, with confirmation from some integrity testing last week. We will shoot 700 yards when the next 600 yards is scheduled in August. We continue to start the days shoot with a Toolbox Talk from our intrepid leader.
Though conditions looked easy, there were only 4 possibles in the first stage, with 6 X’s/V’s being very popular. Only two shooters converted this to a double, Des in FStd, finishing with a nice 66.9 for 126.11 for the day, and Peter C in FO shooting a 66.6 to finish with 126.12. Peter scored his second “Rooster” for the year and Des with his first for the year.
Div 5 (FTR)
We had 8 shooters in FTR today, with Rob G taking out line honours with a 123.13, and Greg H just behind on 122.8. The rest of the pack were a little behind today, with Sarah C toping the next group of shooters with 116.2 for third place.
Div 6 (SH)
We saw the return of the young buck today, trying to out do Dad again, but didn’t quite get there this week, finishing with a 97.2, well behind Dad who took out second place with a 104.8 after finishing with a nice 55.6 in the second stage. First place went to Oliver G narrowly missing another double possible, after starting with a 50.6, he dropped 1 in the second stage to finish just 4 V’s in front of Boris, on 104.12.
