Club Competition – 22/8/20 600 YARDS
Weather conditions were the highlight of the day, even though BOM registered that the temp was 23 degrees, the wind chill factor made it about 17-18, certainly not what our friends down south were feeling, but it meant you needed to sit in the sun to keep warm. The wind was changing from westerly to north north westerly varying from about 8 km/hr to about 20/km/hr fishtailing down the range.
This made it challenging, and those that shot quickly were not necessarily rewarded with a good score.
Karen Cole shot well in the first round with a 50.7, the only possible on the range for the day. We won’t talk about her second round, lets just say her score reflected the conditions at the time she was shooting. You would have thought after shooting in the westerly wind conditions in Brisbane last week would have helped those that attended the Queens……………….nope. Scott Robson held beautiful elevation in his first shoot, but struggled to gain a reasonable score. Des and Michelle didn’t fair much better. David Richardson shot a great second round with a 52.4 in the windy conditions.
FClass scores were well and truly down this week, with only 1 score over 115 for the day. Dennis McNamara shot a 119.3 to take out FO and once again Sarah Cooper won FTR with a 112.4 closely followed by Ian Skipworth on 112.3. Corrie Hoosen continued his good shooting from the Queens and took out FStd with a 107.1. As you can see the V/X counts were extremely low for the day for most of the shooters, it was a struggle just to stay in the bullseye, with maybe a lucky hit in the V/X as you passed through from one side of the bull to the other.
